Client Spotlight: Sono Suite
Introducing Lisa & Tracey from Sono Suite in Pukekohe - a sonographer led ultrasound practice providing everything from sports injury diagnosis to pregnancy and advanced imaging services.
What led you to start your business?
We met almost 15 years ago and have been good friends since. They have always shared the dream of opening an ultrasound practice to serve their community in a way only a small business could do. Over the last several years they noticed just how hard it was to access ultrasound services, and with the Franklin population growing exponentially, they knew now was the right time dive into business.
Can you talk us through what you do and who you work with?
We provide ultrasound services to the entire community, from unborn babies through to older adults, including:
General ultrasound
Musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound
Obstetrics ultrasound
Small parts ultrasound
Vascular ultrasound
Clients are seen by us when they are pregnant, injured, or have a health concern that requires further investigation.
There are many types of health providers who refer patients for ultrasound - most commonly doctors, midwives, and physiotherapists. However, you may also be referred by a specialist, surgeon, osteopath, or chiropractor.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Gosh, do we have enough room to answer this question? There is so much more to the job than ‘taking pictures’. Ultrasound is part scientific investigation, part art and part problem solving. We have the privilege of introducing parents to their children for the first time. And we also have the responsibility of accurately assessing for and describing illnesses or injuries so people can be treated and recover.
How would you describe your approach to your work?
We value people first and foremost. We genuinely take pride in the work we do and the experience we give clients. Our goal is to always make our clients feel welcome, safe and taken care of when they are in our practice.
What do your clients typically appreciate most about working with you?
The feedback we have received so far has been positive. Families love the polaroid pictures of their unborn babies, as well as our gender reveal cards. We know clients appreciate being able to book an appointed on the day or within the week of their enquiry, which is so important when you have a health concern. We have also been told our practice has a warm, inviting feel which is exactly how we want people to feel when arriving.
Finally, is there anything else you’d like people to know about your business?
We are now open on Saturday mornings for clients with sports injuries and musculoskeletal issues. We accept ACC, Southern Cross and private referrals on Saturday’s and we are very happy to help.
